M = the thinner paper - the delgado - that hardly anyone imagined to be coated so the term 'satinado" was coined... Of English origin, like all the other papers coming from the Wiggins, Teape etc. group. Pettigiani says it got introduced in 1952 and staid in use till 1955. There are plenty of references for it in the commemoratives, the book mentions block 10 - 12.10.1956 Centenario del Sello Postal Argentino, but there were several other stamps both before and after! Guillermo Jalil uses the term "Satinado importado" consequently since the 1952 Evita 45c stamp printed in recess on the Giori press. And "Tizado importado" for the K paper. Early examples are the 17.11.1951 5 Year Plan and the 14.12.1951 Human Rights, all in photogravure. During the period 1957-1960 both K and M had been used next to each other - even for one particular stamp! - whereas M stays till 1963..... |
