In 1981 a new definitives set appeared "Polish Towns as depicted on old engravings and woodcuts" - 'Polskie miasta na starych rycinach' - , designed by A. Barecki. The first value: 6.50 zł had been printed in Leipzig at the Wertpapierdruckerei in photogravure in printers sheets of 10x10. A comb-perforation 14 as used. Pretty soon most of the stamps printed had to be overprinted in Wrocław by the Printing Works of the Post and Telecommunication Office [Zakłady Graficzne Poczty i Telekomunikacji]: 10 on 6.50 zł, 74.589.000 out of the 80 million stamps.

A bit later the PWPW started printing several values in this series. All on the GOEBEL-3 reel-fed press in 1-colour photogravure. In printers sheets of 150 [=15x10 portrait format, 10x15 landscape format]. Comb-perforation 11:11 1/2 15/12 horizontally [4, 5zł] or vertically [6, 8 zł]. Direction of printing: R [=right] [4, 5zł] or B [=up] [6, 8zł]. In 1989 remainders of the 4 zł had been overprinted '500' in the Printing Works of the P&T in Wrocław [ PPTT Centrala Zaopatrzenia - Drukarnia].

All stamps remained valid for postage till the end of 1994. KS/F mentions 2 types of paper: with or without OBA. Sofar I found 4 types:
