1982. Creation of Archbishopric of Monaco 1981.
1982. 800th birth anniversary of Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), founder of the Franciscan Order.
1982. Anna Pawlowa (1882-1931), Russian ballet dancer of international fame. The stamp was issued in a set of three, featuring famous artists.

1982. Crown Prince Albert and Prince Rainier III. The airmail set exists in 5 different surface values, issued over the period 1974-1984.

The Princess Grace Memorial issue of 1983, soon after her death, first showed her Cypher designed and engraved by Slania.

He engraved the portrait also. This issue was printed entirely in black, except for the crowned Cypher, printed in blue.

This Cypher has been reused on the 2004-issue, commemorating the late princess' 75th birth anniversary.

Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III of Monaco on April 18, 1956, when she was 26 years old. Fate would limit her life to only twice that number. She died on September 14, 1982 in a tragic automobile accident in the Principality, at the age of only 52, leaving the Prince and their three children, Crown Prince Albert, and the Princesses Caroline and Stephanie behind.
