Dear Sir,
when asked to write an article on aspects of modern
Dutch stamps,I didn't quite know where to start. As a result
of our research quite a few methods were devised to distinguish
the various printings of a particular stamp.To deal with them all
in depth would take too much space.
I decided to write the article about just 2 methods:one being old
but little known,the other recently devised and thus little known
as well.Both of them are applicable not only to Dutch stamps.
I'm not certain whether it will be possible technically but I
think it will be good to use enlarged fragments of stamps as
illustrations,displaying the 3 types of Juliana Regina and the
phenomenon of direction of printing.
For this purpose I ' m enclosing the following stamps:
1. 15c Juliana Profile direction of ptg L,horizontal waves
2. 20c " " direction of ptg O,vertical waves
3. 25c Juliana Regina type I
4. 25c " " type III
5. 1,25 " " type I
6. 1,25 " " type II
7. 2,00 " " type III
