The sculpture is a part of the series of paintings and sculptures called "Les dames de Mougins" with Picasso's wife Jaqueline as the theme. It was erected in Kristinehamn with the aid of the local artist Bengt Olson and the Norwegian artist Carl Nesjar. Nesjar had experimented with decorations in a new concrete material that Picasso had become very interested in. It is made in natural concrete which means that a mould was filled with sorted stone material after which liquid white cement was injected. The artistic decor was sandblasted. Carl Nesjar is responsible for being true to Picasso's intentions. Picasso continually followed the progress of the work with interest through photographs and films.

Among the many hundreds of Swedish stamps Slania has engraved, he singles out "Ballet" (issued in 1975) in the first place. This stamp features the principal dancer Per-Arthur Segerström and leading ballerina Anneli Alhanko in a scene from the ballet Romeo and Juliet.
Czeslaw Slania feels that he has managed to capture the light and ethereal of the ballet in a pleasant way with his careful line engraving, which is based on a photographic original. In his opinion the stamp has become just like the ballet itself.
