The Swedish Nation's official religious faith is Lutheran.

In 1997 a booklet showing various Swedish churches, both in summer and winter was issued.  The six stamps were printed se-tenant in a pane as shown. 

  • 1997.  Swedish Churches. 

    • Dalby, Scania (the southern part of Sweden).

    • Vendel, Uppland (mid northern part of Sweden).

    • Hagby, Småland (mid part of Sweden).

    • Övertorneå, Norrbotten (far northern part of Sweden).

    • Varnhem, Västergötland (western part of of Sweden, south of Stockholm).

    • Östra Ämtervik Värmland (mid southern part of Sweden).

  • 1997.  The pheasants to the right are a joint issue with China. The stamps feature pheasants commonly occurring in both countries.  The stamps are printed se-tenant in a pane as shown.  Another similar pane shows the bottom bird in the top, and vice versa.  This set has become tremendously popular, and is already now scarcely available in both Sweden and China.

The stamp to the left is from a booklet pane of two stamps, of which Slania has engraved the present one.  The stamp is printed se-tenant with the First Class Airmail-label.

  • 1997.  The Swedish Nobel stamps are a joint issue with Switzerland.  The stamps are printed in a booklet pane as shown, and feature
